His wings are closing around him almost like a cloak. He seems a step away from a sea change within (and without?) One wing seems to be growing out of his heart? Who is he to the artist? This viewer knows who he is to her. There is a glow of fire on his shoulders which mellows into the saffron of detachment near the wing tips.
There are 3 she's!
She is angry, the one who is almost perched on his wing. The one he is holding up without touching her. Do you know her? I do :)
And who is She, following behind him? She appears to be grieving, throwing some part of her life behind her while following another that again can't be reached.
And who is that third she? With another s/he? Their hands, lips almost touching. S/he is Egyptian, she is Greek.
Ok that was free flowing subconscious. Will comment again.

This reminds me of the movie Angels in America...

Very beautiful painting...it seems to depict a change...there is some imbalance...things will change...as they do...and before the storm comes, everything is calm...

This reminds me of autumn also..for some facing winter is the harshest battle...and the time just before winter is that of peace and tranquility...

AH even I am at a loss for words , to explain this one , is rather tricky ,and so the painting is how the viewers see it .
